Wise. Courageous. Protector of the skies. This Black Onyx and Kingman
Turquoise Sterling Silver "Flying Eagles" Necklace is a Native American
symbol of great honor. The carved black onyx eagles (approx. 21x9 to 41x14mm)
boast hinged bezel-set black onyx wings and blue accents of stabilized Kingman
turquoise (approx. 2 to 5x4mm). Alternating round and oval sterling
silver links complete the length of the necklace.

About stabilized turquoise... Moisture, skin oils and environmental factors can change the color of turquoise jewelry if left untreated. But stabilizing turquoise helps preserve the stone's normal color. Natural, mined turquoise nuggets are heated at a very low temperature for about a week, slowly drawing out moisture without damaging the texture. The stones are then placed into acrylic or polymer chemicals to replace water molecules. This stabilizes the stone and keeps its beauty and value intact.

Craftsmanship Plus/Design Minus / Therese, NY9/9/2007 This necklace is beautifully crafted and I wanted it to work so badly. There should have more separation between the two eagles. The top and larger of the two eagles falls on the bottom one. I tried clasping it at various intervals on the chain, but found that it "somewhat" works only as a choker.
A better design would have placed the larger eagle on the bottom so that that it''s weight would separate it from the smaller eagle.
I would definitely buy it again if the design was changed.
