Incredibly detailed, this handcarved cornelian oval (approx. 69x50mm) features the portrait of a Bacchante, or a follower of Bacchus, the Roman god of wine. Crowned in a wreath of grapes and leaves, her long, flowing hair spills over her swagging dress. Bezel-set in a gold Roman frame, this cameo can be worn as a pendant or brooch using the hinged bail and pin with stem-and-clutch closure.

This is the second cameo that I have purchased from AMEDEO. I also own the large Day & Night piece. Every time I where them they get noticed. This cameo is a work of art. I just love it.

GREAT CAMEO/BAD GOLD / LANE, NY

Yes, this is a great looking cameo, however, the gold findings are not up to the standard of the carving. I have taken the cameo in to top jewelry stores/dealers in the NYC area- none have carvings of this size or detail. BUT, big but- their cheaper cameos have better gold findings...the pin and bale on a $60.00 cameo in the store was better then this $1,000 cameo. I had to replace the bail in order to be able to wear the piece. My jeweler warned me not to use it as a pin, because the pin is too frail. Lastly, the piece is one you will not see everywhere so it was worth the trouble. HSN needs to ask scognamiglio to improve the amounts of gold used and improve the findings especially the pins.

This is truly a piece of art. I keep looking at it and admire the fine carving of details. Eye lashes and brows are exquisite. When I have worn the cameo on a gold chain, people ask whether they can look at it close up, especially young women.
